What exactly can the Reference librarians help with?
Anything! YPRL Reference staff will assist you towards research for a project, a vocation, job seeking, buying a car…anything!
What can I do with my library card?
Your library card allows you to borrow and place holds on items from the YPRL collection, download ebooks and audiobooks, access online databases, use the public PCs in your library branch, print and use the photocopiers in the library, use the wifi at libraries, access your account online and contribute community content to the website!
Can everyone get a library card?
If you live in Victoria – Yes! If you live outside the region, you can still get a PC Card, which gives you access to the library's computers and wireless.
Can I borrow library items from other Yarra Plenty Regional Library branches?
Yes, all items available for loan can be circulated between any YPRL branch. Just place a hold on the item to have it delivered to your home branch.
How do I join the library?
You can join online or by visiting one of our 8 branches or mobile library.
There are 2 kinds of membership – full membership and PC only membership.
If you apply for full membership in person you will get your card right away. Please bring some form of identification with your name and current address.
If you apply for PC only membership you just need proof of who you are. You are not able to borrow library items.
If you are under 18 you require your parent or guardian’s signature, they will need to be present when you join.

Does the library have wifi?
All branches have wifi available during opening hours.
How long can I use a library PC for?
You may use the library PCs up to 2 hours per day.
How many items can I borrow at a time?
There is a limit of 30 items for each library member at any one time.
