This week the overall theme in the Diamond Valley Library was Mother's Day . The week started with Baby Story Time on Monday morning, where we sang out favourite songs about Mum. Easter holidays came and went. The children at the Diamond Valley Library were entertained with about a dozen little chicks hatching in the Library. The incubator and some already hatched chicks were delivered at the Library just after Easter. All through the first week we could see chicks hatching. It was such an interesting and exiting process! Late last year Lucy helped plant some bean seedlings for our edible cubby. She has been visiting the courtyard regularly to water them. The climbing bean plants grew and grew and produced healthy beans. A couple of weeks ago we gave Lucy a couple of beans. She put them on some cotton wool in a glass jar. Today before story time she proudly showed off . . . more »

A joined activity between the Preschool story time children and the Garden Club was a great success: The children listened/watched a special Auslan storytelling session with the theme Gardening & Food. This was followed by the launch of our own Worm farm and planting of climbing beans for an edible cubby. It didn't take us long to decide which worms to eat and which worms . . . more »

We have been very busy in the garden at Diamond Valley planting all new lettuces & spinach. The globe artichokes are flourishing and our tomato plants are almost ready to fruit. The garden is a space enjoyed by all library visitors with special interest for our children after storytime who are encouraged to join in the watering & harvesting.
