YPRL is an overdue fine free library. If an item becomes more than 3 weeks overdue you will be charged a lost fee for the replacement of the item, if that item is still not returned after an additional 3 weeks the charge will be referred to a debt collection agency and will incur a $15 service fee charge.
The good news is, no matter how late your items are returned all lost fees will always be waived. If you ever lose or accidentally damage items please speak to one of our friendly staff as soon as possible who can discuss your options with you.
What do I do if I have already returned the item?
If you believe that you have already returned the items mentioned in your Debt Recovery Notice, please contact your local branch with details about the time and date that you returned the items.
I thought I could keep the item?
No, all items from YPRL’s collection are issued with a due date when the item borrowed, while this due date can be extended, the items must be returned, or a lost item fee will be charged.
We are a lending institution and the terms and conditions of membership state “All items must be returned or renewed by the due date”.
Why do I need to pay a $15 debt recovery fee?
This is an admin fee to cover the cost for the Debt Recovery agency. If you return the items prior to the debt being referred to the Debt Recovery agency, this fee will not be charged.
What if I’m suffering from financial hardship?
If you are currently suffering from financial hardship and cannot pay your lost item fee, please come in and talk to our library staff and we will work with you.
I thought YPRL didn’t have fines?!
YPRL is proudly fine free. If you return your items on time and in good condition, you will not be charged a fee. These are charges applied to items that are assumed “lost” and need to be replaced.
Can I still borrow if I’m on a payment plan?
Yes, however staff will need to manually process the loans.
I didn’t know about these charges!
We do our best to contact you with the details that you have provided, if you haven't received an email, letter, or message, please check you contact details are correct.
