Yarra Plenty Regional Library offers students the opportunity to complete placements as part of the secondary school curriculum. This includes:
- Work Experience (Year 10 students)
- Structured Workplace Learning (Year 11 or 12 students)
- School Community Work (Year 11 or 12 students)
We also offer placements to young people who are completing the Duke of Edinburgh Award and are at least 15 years of age.
Work Experience placements are generally for one week during school terms only.
Eligibility Requirements for Applicants
- You may be asked to attend an informal interview as part of the selection process;
- A placement is not confirmed until the appropriate Work Experience, Structured Workplace Learning or School Community documentation has been provided to YPRL by the school or community organisation;
- We are unable to offer placements with less than 4 weeks’ notice;
- Students 18 years or older may be required to provide a satisfactory Working with Children Check (Volunteer) and National Police Check. The cost of the Police Check is the student’s responsibility; and
- Please be aware that there is a lot of walking and standing; you may be required to complete library tasks that include pushing trollies, carrying boxes, bending down, etc. Please wear comfortable shoes to your placement.

Register your interest by filling in the form below. Please note that YPRL will finalise student placements by the end of September, per school year. Applications received after this time may be unsuccessful due to limited availability.
