Introducing...

Name: Deb Fothergill

Branch location: Lalor Library

Storytimes you deliver: I do storytime on Monday, Wednesday and Friday alternating with an amazing team of storytellers. I believe everyone brings something special to their session and we all learn from each other.

Other Storytimes to look out for at this branch: Italian storytime is on the last Tuesday of the month during school terms and we also have ‘pop up’ Greek storytimes!

Fav Storytime songs: ‘Hurry Hurry Drive the Firetruck’ is very popular but ‘Rock-a-bye your Bear’ gets everyone clapping and singing!

Puppets or Props or Mascot? We have a monster puppet mascot, who is very friendly! And I have an enchanted tree puppet who likes to hear everyone’s morning news - who has new shoes, unicorn tee-shirt or has a bandaged finger?

What happens after Storytime? After Preschool there is always a craft that promotes motor skills and imagination. Toddlers may have a colouring sheet and block play, which allows the parents to stay on and socialise, and Babies have soft blocks play and it is lovely to see parents interacting with the babies and each other.

I Love it When: I see young people come back into the library who attended storytime over the years. From babies to high school and they still remember the things they did here. Also when parents say that their child learned to speak English in the library, so rewarding!

Working at Lalor: We love a big event here at Lalor. This year we have had the Multicultural Moments day with food demonstrations, dancing and singing, as well as a Live Well Expo with information sessions, U3A craft demonstrations and more singing and dancing. Our community do love to get up and dance. It was wonderful to see children, adults and staff alike having a great time.
