Reconciliation Banyule recently donated a Banyule Reconciliation Group Collection to YPRL. This collection features stories of Indigenous child separation, desert paintings, government reports, cultural life, political action, and experiences from all over Australia. Reconciliation Banyule's members and supporters "believe [that] educating the community about Indigenous history, culture and issues is of primary importance".  The collection contains both fiction and non fiction stories and DVDs, including the acclaimed biography by Sammy Morgan My Place, (2007) and Follow the rabbit-proof fence by Doris Pilkington, (2001), along with Roberta B. Sykes' Snake Circle trilogy documenting the life of the first Australian Aboriginal with a doctorate from Harvard University.

DVDs include Ten Canoes and its follow up Twelve Canoes along with a documentary on the boxer Lionel Rose.

Browse the collection online (or type in "Banyule Reconcilitation Group Collection" in the search field) or visit Watsonia Library. Holds are welcome, although a few titles have been allocated to local history collections and are not for loan.  You can also find other titles in our collection, along with films on the Beamafilm and Kanopy streaming platforms.  Visit our curated list  featured on the catalogue for National Reconciliation Week.
