Diamond Valley Temporary Closure for Garden Works

YPRL Staff

31 May, 2024

Diamond Valley Library is currently undergoing an exciting redevelopment of the outdoor spaces, as we improve accessibility for the community. This project has been made possible with grant funding from the State Government Growing Suburbs Fund. These works mean the branch will be closed from Monday 10 June (King's Birthday Public Holiday) and reopening approximately a week later, depending on the weather. There will also be no access to the return chute during this time.

While the branch is temporarily closed, patrons will be able to visit Watsonia, Eltham, Mill Park and Mernda libraries or our Mobile Library service to borrow books, access resources, and use our services. During the closure, our Digital Library will also continue to provide access to information and resources. With a diverse range of resources, including eBooks, eAudio, and eMags our Digital Library provides access to nearly anything you'd like. So, there is no better time to explore all that it has to offer!

These important works will be improve the accessibility at the library entrance with upgrading of the entry path and the two upgraded accessible parking bays. The outdoor garden area will be landscaped and a new play area, vegetable boxes, seating and a communication board is installed. Diamond Valley Library is the only public library in Australia to be a Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden partner. These works will provide better facilities for the programs run as part of this initiative. You can visit Nillumbik Council’s website to find out more information about the works.
