Recently, LinkedIn (the world’s largest career-related social network) published a list of 10 currently in-demand jobs for Australia. The list focusses on careers requiring digital skills, and they were chosen based on a number of factors, including job vacancies, policy trends, and skill shortage areas.

These 10 in-demand job areas are:

  • Customer Service Specialist
  • Data analyst
  • Digital Marketing Specialist
  • Financial Analyst
  • Graphic Designer
  • IT Support / Helpdesk technician
  • IT administrator
  • Project manager
  • Sales development Representative
  • Software Developer

Besides identifying which jobs are in-demand, LinkedIn has also created packages of learning materials (called Learning Paths) to help people re-skill or upskill in these areas. This initiative is LinkedIn’s way of supporting jobseekers through the huge changes to our economy as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Each of these Learning Paths consists of hours of carefully-selected, professionally-created video tutorials covering key skills in that job area. And all of these Learning Paths are available for free to YPRL library members, through our portal to LinkedIn Learning.

Not only will these learning materials be useful for upskilling or a career change, but the skills they cover – such as marketing, customer service and financial analysis – can help budding entrepreneurs and small business owners as well. And beyond these introductory Learning Paths, LinkedIn Learning also offers more advanced modules that can help you develop expertise in a range of business, IT and creative areas.

To get started with LinkedIn Learning, have your library membership details ready, then use YPRL's LinkedIn Learning URL. We have also prepared this downloadable guide to help you. (Not yet a YPRL member? You can join instantly online.)

Stay tuned for 3 more blog posts in this series, where we will look into what skills are included in each of these ten Learning Paths!
