Learn more about the Anzac in your family by exploring records online. YPRL’s Local and Family History Librarian Liz will introduce some key resources for researching your military family history. The presentation will be followed by a showing of short films including photos of local WW1 enlistments in partnership with Epping RSL sub branch. Book your place at Lalor Library.
Local military historian Peter Rickard has published two books about men from the district we now describe as the Shire of Nillumbik who signed up for the Great War of 1914-1918. He will talk about the importance of maintaining memorials, his methods and hurdles in his research, and some of the personal stories and interesting characters who went to war from the area. Discover your family history in the library. Access military collections on Ancestry Library Edition and Find My Past Library Edtion in the library and look for your Anzac ancestor in the newspapers of British Newspapers Archive (all free in the library) and Trove.
