Find local artworks at Ivanhoe Library:

The glass cabinets at Ivanhoe Library are currently showcasing some artworks and crafts by local artists, and most of these are available to buy.

If you are an art lover or require a thoughtful and original present for a loved one, please come and visit us at the library and have a look at what we have on offer!

Support & Buy from local artists!

Friend of the library Leesa Walsh curated the mini exhibition with contacts she has made through teaching at the U3A and elsewhere, and many of these original pieces have already been sold and taken home by happy customers!

The exhibition will be winding up in late November, so there is still time to check it out, choose something you love, and support a local artist.

From delicate watercolours to colour-saturated photographs and stunning handmade silk scarves, there are a bunch of items to choose from. Even some wonderful photographs taken by Leesa herself.

All items available for sale have their prices on display and contact details for purchasing.

So next time you are at the Ivanhoe Library, head towards the local history room on level one until you see the big glass cabinets and take a moment to enjoy some of the gorgeous artworks on offer!

Feeling inspired by the work of local creatives and want to start exploring your own art practice?

Small Loom Weaving: easy projects for beginners by Ichi.co

Small Loom Weaving is a friendly introduction to the joys of making your own handwoven goods. Illustrated lessons introduce you to the fundamentals of the loom, materials, tools, color changes, introducing texture, finishing, and more. This useful guide also shows you how to make chic, boho items ranging from coasters and placemats to scarves and small wall hangings. In this book, textile designer and expert weaver Ichi.co proves that creating beautiful textures and patterns on a loom is easier than you may think, and weaving your own pieces is an immensely rewarding experience.

The Wildlife Photography Workshop by Ross Hoddinott

The Wildlife Photography Workshop is a practical course written by two leading photographers who share their expert guidance and technical knowledge for photographing birds, mammals, plant life and close-up subjects such as insects.

Photographic workshops are exceptionally popular, but not everybody has the time or budget to attend one in person. This 'workshop in book form' allows you to absorb the benefits of the workshop experience without actually being on location with the professionals!

Watercolour Landscapes by Richard S. Taylor

This book is the perfect companion for the watercolour landscape painter. Richard Taylor looks at each element of the landscape in turn. He moves from small details, such as a quick painting of his backpack, drawn in a break from walking to wide sweeping panoramas.

Detailed annotations point to key areas of interest for each painting showing, for example, how a wash has been used to create shadows in still water, or how paper has been left blank to represent the tops of clouds. Alongside each painting you’ll find the palette of colours used, with advice on combining colours for best effect.
