Lalor Library is reopening after refurbishment on Monday 17 June at 9.00am.
Explore our new layout, furniture, and library design. There's a new workspace area equipped with modern amenities to support your study and work needs.
Storytimes will be back providing an enriching experience for our young visitors and the relocated area has been designed to spark imagination, curiosity, and creativity!
Now that Lalor Library is reopening, we are also preparing for Thomastown Library to close for renovations on Thursday 13 June.
Thomastown’s Library renovations will include both library and community spaces. So, the whole building will be closed for a few weeks.
Our community room spaces will re-open refreshed with a new paint job and updated kitchen facilities! This will re-open and on Monday 24 June for all our regular groups to experience.
However, the library space will remain closed. This is because the Thomastown Library Textile and Craft Maker Space is being upgraded! The newly refurbished area will include: cupboards for storing of all sewing machines, equipment and materials required for sewing and all arts and crafts programs.
What you need to know:
- While Thomastown Library is closed some of our regular programming will be moving to other spaces. Please see our website for details.
- All loans will be extended until Thomastown re-opens.
- All holds available for pick up and not picked up by the Wednesday 12 June will be moved from Thomastown to Lalor. You will be notified when your holds are available. If you wish to change the pickup location to another branch, you can change this online or speak to a staff member who will help you. If you have difficulty getting to one of our other branches, we can suspend your holds until Thomastown Library re-opens.
- Thomastown phones will be diverted to Lalor while we are closed.
During the closure, we encourage you to explore our digital library, including eBooks, audiobooks, online magazines, newspapers and much more.
We expect to have all the renovations complete in July 2024. We will keep you updated on our progress and notify you of any further changes via our website.
