Introducing...
Name: Roslyn
Branch: Eltham Library
Storytimes you deliver: I do the morning story times at Eltham - 10.30am and 11.30am sessions, Monday to Friday!
Other Storytimes at branch: Susan does a wonderful babytime at 2pm on a Wednesday, and a family Storytime once a month on a Saturday that will knock your socks off!
Fav type of Storytime and why: I love a good theme or a special guest as I love learning something new or meeting someone fun, but all Storytimes have something that leaves me feeling brighter.
Fav Storytime songs: I usually love the newest song to the collection, so that would be Inanay – a song from the Torres Strait Islands about a Goanna…but Old Mac Donald is hard to beat when I mix up the animals – the kids are very quick to tell me there are no dinosaurs on the farm!
Puppets or props or mascot? Mr Chompy the crocodile is my favourite puppet, he has been part of my Storytimes for nearly 8 years. We have a wonderful working relationship (even if he does sometimes nibble the books a bit…and maybe some children’s hands if they try and pat him without asking) and he doesn’t even mind my terrible puns.
What happens after Storytime? Activity/garden/ Bubbles? Bubbles after every session and a craft after preschool sessions. There is nothing better than watching kids play with bubbles…except perhaps watching parents play with bubbles!
Looking for something to do after Storytime? What’s nearby? Alistair Knox Reserve just across the road has a fabulous playground, I’d be over there myself if I didn’t have a job to do!
Fav local place to get your coffee: Shillinglaw Café, they keep my Storytimes going strong with their coffee…and maybe now and then I ‘forget’ to bring lunch and go over for their zucchini and corn fritters.
