The much-anticipated Mernda Library will be opening on Monday 22 January 2024.
The brand-new library is conveniently located in Mernda Town Centre, situated on the land of the Wurundjeri Wilam peoples. We acknowledge the care of these lands, waterways and skies undertaken by the Traditional Owners of the area and commit to contributing positively to the local community.
Where to find Mernda Library!
The library is at the northern end of the shopping precinct and entry is only accessible from inside the centre.
We are conveniently located right next to Mernda Train Station, and there is plenty of free parking at Mernda Town Centre.
Mernda Library is both Yarra Plenty Regional Library's 10th branch and our very first library in a shopping centre, so you can come and collect your holds and do your shopping, all in the same building!
Fun Fact: Did you know that the name ‘Mernda’ comes from the Woi Wurrung word murnmurndik, meaning young girl?
Our new branch has a bespoke and carefully curated collection, specially selected for the local community. The collection includes the latest Book Express titles, and language collections for both Punjabi and Hindi. If you cannot find what you are looking for, please ask a staff member for help.
