Welcome back to the State of the Space! An update on all things Maker, equipment and resources. Let's take a look at what's been happening in July.
If you've yet to check out the space you can book an induction here.
We've got a second Prusa 3D Printer!
We got our first Prusa i3 printer last year and it's been printing really well. The printer came flat packed in parts and we put it together over lockdown, it took us 3 days but was well worth it to build confidence with all aspects for how a 3D printer works.
That's meant over the last year we've had two different 3D printers in our space, the Prusa i3 and our first printer the Up Mini 2. It's made it a bit tricky during our inductions when we've had to explain two different printers, operation and software. The Prusa printer has also been by far more popular than the Up Mini with its easy SD card printing system.
The Up Mini has been an absolute workhorse since the Maker Space began in 2016, six years of service and it's never missed a beat! Now sadly it's time to say goodbye to the Up Mini but don't worry, it'll be moving onto one of our other branches for a new life.
We salute you Up Mini for all your many prints from lightsabers, keychains, badges to animals!
The new Prusa i3 3D printer has been set up and now available for bookings on the equipment page.

Preservation Station Coming Soon
You may have seen the Epson V600 Photo Scanner we have available on our equipment booking page, it's perfect for digitising family photos, keeping a record of old documents or even scanning slides (positive and negatives).
This equipment has been available for awhile but scanning old photos can be trickier than it appears. To help with this we've been working on creating a 'Preservation Station' one place for you to digitise, repair and store all your favourite memories. This will include How-To guides and introduction sessions with an expert to get you started.
Did I also mention it will be available at Eltham, Ivanhoe and Mill Park Libraries!? More updates coming for this soon.
