It’s that time of year - Winter!!!
Winter is where you may find me curled up in my Pikachu Blanky, hot chocolate next to me, devouring a big thick heartwarming novel - My most recent pick Apples Never Fall by Liane Moriarty is a compelling story of a mysterious disappearance interwoven with family tensions which will have you considering every family relationship you have ever had. I could not put it down and I recommend it highly as a great winter read.

As the weather cools and we spend more time inside it's always nice to get out of the house and yet still feel warm and sheltered. That is where Yarra Plenty Regional Library (YPRL) steps in – your community lounge room. Our branches are wonderfully welcoming places that you can visit rain, hail or shine – Come on in, find a comfy chair and partake of a great read.
Warm up by the Fireplace!
If you love a cosy open fireplace, then a couple of our branches can satisfy that penchant. Wiggle and warm your toes in front of Whittlesea branch’s wonderful welcoming fireplace.
Yack n' Yarn
Why not take a train journey to our Eltham Branch (about 350m from the station). Here you can sip a nice warm cup of tea, read a book, or flick through a magazine or two whilst enjoying the crackling open fire. The crafters amongst us may like to join in Eltham's Yack n’ Yarn every Monday morning 10.00am–12.00pm.

If craft is not your thing, why not spend some time on a community jigsaw – most of our branches have one. If you like board games, you might like to spend a cozy winters evening playing at Watsonia.
For the Chef...
For the chefs amongst us you may be interested in becoming a member of the Diamond Valley Cookbook Book Group. Meetings take place on a Saturday afternoon - borrow a cookbook, then cook, discuss, and share your recipes each month.

Aside from warm and toasty crafty, cooky events within our branches, YPRL is hosting many events across the region this winter – ALL FREE - From weekly Chatty Cafe morning meets at Whittlesea, Ivanhoe, Mill Park, Thomastown and Eltham to some fantastic Libraries after Dark events – I dare to say there is something for EVERYONE!
So don’t hibernate this Winter, come and visit one of our branches and take advantage of everything your local (or not so local) YPRL branch has on offer. We would love to see you.
