Maker Spaces
YPRL’s Maker Spaces present opportunities to create, connect, collaborate and learn in a fun and supported environment. They have been designed to empower our diverse communities to participate in creative and entrepreneurial activities and learning opportunities.
Hands-on Learning and Creativity
Generally speaking, a maker space is “a place in which people with shared interests can gather to work on projects while sharing ideas, equipment, and knowledge”. YPRL’s Maker Spaces present members with opportunities to create, connect, collaborate, and learn in a fun and supported environment. Well-appointed with specialist resources and equipment, our Maker Spaces facilitate hands-on learning and encourage creativity.
YPRL currently offer 4 Maker Spaces across our library branches, as well as a Maker Space Library for you to borrow and take home equipment. Each space has a different focus for your creative and learning needs. Below is a description of our Maker Spaces, with further information about locations, and what you can do and make at each one.
Information on the sessions, workshops and events run by the Maker Space teams can be found under the events listings on the website, or by speaking to one of the relevant library’s friendly staff. Some events may require bookings.
